Dental Care

Ultrasonic scaling and polishing under monitored anesthesia, with full-mouth X-rays before any extraction — not a guess from the outside of the mouth.

Overview

What this actually involves.

Most dental disease lives below the gumline, where an awake exam simply can’t see it, so every Denwell dental procedure is done under general anesthesia with continuous monitoring — heart rate, oxygen saturation, blood pressure, and body temperature tracked throughout, the same standard we use for any surgery. An ultrasonic scaler removes plaque and tartar above and below the gumline, followed by polishing to smooth the enamel so new plaque has less to grip onto.

Before we extract anything, we take full-mouth dental X-rays — a tooth can look fine above the gumline while the root underneath is abscessed, and X-rays are the only way to actually know. You’ll see the images and hear the plan before any extraction happens, and you go home with a written at-home care routine sized to what your pet will actually tolerate, whether that’s daily brushing, a dental chew, or a water additive.
